CASANIS
- The home of authentic French cooking in Bath. Receive a warm welcome
from owners chef Laurent Couvreur and his wife Jill at Casanis bistro
restaurant, where New York efficiency meets Gallic charm. Informal
and relaxed, it serves affordable, authentic southern French, rustic-style
cuisine.
Lunch and dinner menus offer simple but stylish dishes, with daily
specials and set-menu options available for lunch and pre-theatre.
Opened in October 2007 Casanis has quickly established itself as the
home of authentic French cooking in Bath, already winning Runner Up:
Best New Neighbourhood Bistro in the Metro South West Food and Drink
Awards 2007.
Chef Laurent has major credentials under his belt, including working
with Michelin-starred masterchef Jacques Chibois in Cannes. After
leaving the South of France, he cheffed at Chez Jacqueline in New
York, the Ritz in London and locally at Beaujolais in Bath. His signature
dishes at Casanis are petits raviolis escargot (snails & garlic
ravioli with leek & chicken veloute sauce) and cuisse de canard
confite (confit leg of duck with fondant potatoes, garlic spinach
and lavender honey red wine jus).
With its low lighting and antiques sourced from brocantes across Provence,
Casanis provides an intimate dining space spanning two floors, with
a lovely al fresco courtyard garden at the back.
Situated adjacent to the Assembly Rooms and Fashion Museum, Casanis
is a beautiful Georgian building on Saville Row, one of the prettiest
lanes in Bath, with The Circus, Royal Crescent, Milsom Street and
George Street just a five-minute walk away.
