Grappa n. an Italian spirit distilled from the lees of the grapes after they have been pressed for winemaking.
Richard Fenton who owns Bath's Grappa Bar also owns the acclaimed Firehouse Rotisseries in Bristol and Bath.
Richard has converted an old pub in the heart of the Georgian upper town into one of the hottest wine bars in Bath.
The name Grappa comes from his favourite tipple, which was traditionally distilled by small vineyards and wine makers as a digestive for the owners private stock.
Brought back to life whilst enhancing many of the original features Grappa has become one of the most popular meeting places in Bath and is only a few minutes walk from the city centre.
By day the charm is purely continental, relax in comfort whilst excellent staff serve you beers, coffees or one of Grappa's fantastic new and old world wines, over 24 of which are available by the glass.
By night, shake off the stresses of the working day. This is one of those places that once you are in its hard to find a reason to leave .

Bar manager and joint licensee Mark Welling along with his assistant Alex Deamer serve up and shake some great cocktails. Also available in many guises is the famous Grappa. Choose from some fine aged varieties or just the rustic type, all as satisfying as a fine cognac or malt whisky.
Feeling hungry or just a little peckish? Grappa have a great selection of Antipasta to share, a plate of mouth-watering cheeses. Italian salamis, pate, sun blushed tomatoes in olive oil and bread with garnish.
This is a bar for grown ups and the sophisticated, a place where you can bring your daughter, its got everything except perhaps a bunker in which to hide during a nuclear attack.
