The
self-styled Chocolate Masters of Bath take the name of their shop from
the Roman goddess Minerva who protected the city over 2000 years ago
and whose great temple lies almost adjacent across the Abbey churchyard.
No one knows more about chocolate than the Belgians say co-owners Philippe
Wall and Thierry Spierkel who were both born in Belgium. Their unique
double entrance shop offers a dazzling selection of every type of chocolate
confectionery ranging from carefully made truffles, pralines and chocolate
of every kind.
VISIT
THE CHOCOLATERIE on Abbey Church yard for your personal or corporate
gifts, they even have an entire range of chocolates decorated with the
head Minerva, providing a unique link with the historic surroundings
and one of the city's symbols from its Roman past.
Nothing however delights more than the perfect combination of champagne
and chocolate. The House of Minerva has sourced, using their continental
expertise, a range of fine champagnes of which they are the sole UK
outlet and include one that is 100 Percent Chardonnay.
Thierry and his wife live near Epernay, which is the heart of the champagne
district, her family the Weynand's have their own vineyards and have
been producing champagne for 4 generations, Thierry has reserved a few
cases of the best vintage just for his shop in Bath.
