Affectionately known to the locals as the passage, the undoubted jewel among the quaint and largely unaltered shops in this paved street is the home of jewellery designer and goldsmith Nicholas Wylde.
This is a jewellery shop with a difference.
Many goldsmiths and jewellers sell designer jewellery but at Nicholas Wylde he is the designer.
Nicholas Wylde first became interested in jewellery as a boy, whilst watching the goldsmiths at work in Birmingham’s jewellery quarter. He decided that jewellery was to be his future.
After training at Birmingham’s prestigious School of Jewellery, he moved to Bath and opened his first shop in 1987, at the age of 24.
His designs, from one-off commissions to larger corporate orders, are hand made in the workshop on the premises. Inspiration comes from everything around him - shapes, colours, textures and his great passion, vibrant gemstones.
